There is a reason so many roof problems come back quoted as a whole roof. Replacement is a clean job with a clean number, and repair is fiddly, unglamorous and hard to price from the ground. Most Dallas leaks are not holes in the field of the roof. They are at the interruptions: a valley that has lost its granules, a pipe boot whose rubber collar has split in the sun, step flashing that was face-nailed instead of woven into the courses, a ridge cap lifted by wind. Water gets in at one of those, runs along a rafter, and shows up on a ceiling in a different room. The stain is almost never under the entry point.

Is my roof worth repairing or should I replace it?
Age, the state of the shingle mat and how localised the damage is. A roof under fifteen with damage in one area is usually a repair. A roof over twenty with granules in the gutters, curling at the edges and leaks in more than one place is spending money twice. Anyone who answers this without getting on the roof is guessing.
How much does a roof repair cost?
Small repairs commonly run a few hundred dollars: a pipe boot, a few shingles, a section of ridge cap. Rebuilding a valley or reworking chimney flashing costs more because it is slow, careful work. The variable is access more often than materials.
How fast can a leak be looked at?
Call rather than filling in the form, because an active leak is a today problem. The first job is stopping water getting in, which usually means a tarp or a temporary patch, and the permanent repair follows once the roof is dry enough to work on.
Why is the stain on my ceiling nowhere near the roof damage?
Because water runs. It enters at a flashing or a split boot, travels along the underside of the decking or down a rafter, and drops where it meets an obstruction. Chasing the stain upward is how a repair misses the actual entry point.
Will a repair match the existing shingles?
Close, rarely exact. Shingles fade in Texas sun within a couple of years and manufacturers change color blends, so a patch on a ten-year-old roof will be visible from the right angle. On a front elevation that matters; on a back slope it usually does not.
